Velocity is Indias largest Revenue Based Financing (RBF) platform. RBF is a new kind of financing where businesses can raise funds based on the ongoing and future revenues. We work directly with over 5000 brands in the country and have currently 1000+ brands live on our portal benefiting and growing with RBF capital.

Founders are IIT-IIM alumni, with prior experience across management consulting, venture capital and fintech startups. We are driven by the mission to empower small business owners with technology and dramatically improve their access to financial services. We have raised a total of $30M across 2 rounds of funding and are backed by some of the most marquee global investors including Peter Thiel’s Valar Ventures.

About Velocity AI Labs: –

Velocitys AI labs is a vertical to leverage AI led solutions for internal Velocity use cases and then deploy them at large scale across the industry. We have started with Vani AI an AI powered super-agent designed to emulate human phone calls. Vani AI delivers outstanding performance by tackling several technical challenges like local language understanding, interruption handling, background noise removal, high conversational accuracy, and super low response latency.

While this is the starting hook product, we aim to launch multiple products leveraging AI to solve for emerging use cases while improving our voice agent to cover major finance and e-commerce use cases.

Job Overview

We are seeking a Lead Data Analyst ( Data Analytics & Data Science ) to own and drive all analytics initiatives for our organization. In this role, you will lead a diverse team of analysts and data engineers, develop and deliver analytics-based products across multiple business verticals, and champion data-driven decision-making to move the needle on key performance metrics. The ideal candidate has a strong background in data strategy, team leadership, and technical expertise to translate complex insights into measurable business impact.

Key Responsibilities

Analytics Leadership
Define and execute the overall analytics vision and strategy, aligned with company objectives.
Prioritize and oversee analytics initiatives across business functions to maximize impact on revenue, product development, and customer experience.
Team Management
Recruit, mentor, and manage a high-performing team of data analysts and data engineers.
Foster a data-driven culture through regular knowledge-sharing, training, and best practices adoption.
Product & Project Ownership
Lead the development of analytics-based products and solutions across all verticals, from conceptualization to deployment.
Collaborate with product, engineering, and business stakeholders to ensure seamless delivery and alignment with strategic goals.
Data-Driven Solutions
Identify areas for improvement and implement analytical solutions that optimize processes, reduce costs, and drive growth.
Drive the adoption of predictive modeling, machine learning, and advanced analytics methodologies to support real-time decision-making.
Performance Measurement & Reporting
Establish KPIs and dashboards that provide actionable insights for leadership and cross-functional teams.
Ensure data quality, consistency, and reliability across all analytics outputs.
Strategic Influence
Partner with senior leadership to incorporate analytics into broader business strategies and objectives.
Communicate insights and recommendations effectively to key stakeholders, translating complex data into clear, actionable steps.
Requirements

Educational Background
Bachelors or Master’s degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, or a related field.
MBA or advanced degree in analytics is a plus.
Professional Experience
4-8 years of experience in analytics, data science, or business intelligence. Experience in analytics consulting and/or high growth startup is mandatory.
Proven track record of leading and scaling data teams in fast-paced or high-growth environments.
Technical & Analytical Skills
Strong proficiency in SQL, Python/R, and data visualization tools (Tableau, Power BI, Looker, Metabase etc.).
Experience architecting data pipelines, databases, and data warehousing solutions in collaboration with engineering teams.
Hands-on familiarity with statistical analysis, machine learning models, and predictive analytics.
Leadership & Communication
Demonstrated ability to build, mentor, and manage cross-functional teams, including analysts and data engineers.
Excellent communication and presentation skills, capable of influencing senior stakeholders with data-backed insights.
Strategic Mindset
Strong business acumen, with the capacity to link data initiatives to business outcomes and ROI.
Innovative & Results-Driven
Proven success in defining and delivering analytics projects that have a meaningful impact on organizational growth and performance.
Agile approach to problem-solving, comfortable iterating and pivoting based on findings.
