What you’ll do
Position Overview:
The International Purchasing Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing global procurement of raw materials, speciality chemicals, solvents, and intermediates from international suppliers. The role requires strong expertise in vendor development, international sourcing, cost negotiations, import compliance, and supply chain optimisation to ensure the timely and cost-effective availability of materials.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Procurement & Sourcing
Develop and implement international procurement strategies for speciality and bulk chemicals.
Identify, evaluate, and onboard across global suppliers.
Negotiate long-term contracts, payment terms, and supply agreements with overseas vendors.
2. Import Operations & Documentation
Oversee end-to-end import cycle from vendor approach to material shipment.
Ensure proper documentation, including LC, BL, COO, MSDS, REACH/GHS certifications, and DGFT compliance.
Coordinate with the Logistics department on shipments.
3. Compliance & Regulatory Management
Stay updated with international chemical import regulations (DGFT, REACH, CLP, GHS, and hazardous goods transport norms).
Ensure all imports meet statutory requirements and safety standards.
Maintain accurate documentation for audits and government inspections.
4. Vendor & Market Management
Build and maintain strong relationships with global suppliers.
Conduct supplier audits and performance evaluations based on quality, reliability, and pricing.
Monitor global chemical market trends, price fluctuations, currency risks, and regulatory changes.
5. Cost & Risk Management
Analyse landed costs and optimise procurement budgets.
Develop risk mitigation strategies for currency volatility, supply chain disruptions, and trade barriers.
Work on cost reduction initiatives without compromising quality and compliance.
6. Cross-Functional Coordination
Work closely with Production, QC/QA, Finance, and Warehouse teams for seamless material planning.
Provide timely updates to stakeholders regarding shipment schedules and delays.
7. Reporting & Analysis
Prepare MIS reports, cost analysis, and procurement dashboards for management review.
Develop KPIs for monitoring supplier performance, import lead time, and cost savings.
