What you’ll do
Role & responsibilities

Role Overview We are looking for a motion designer who understands that animation is not decoration but a functional tool to guide users, clarify actions, and drive behaviour.

Core Responsibilities Drive motion design at Prefr across the organisation, owning the end-to-end motion strategy to accelerate and improve product quality at every customer touchpoint

. Act as a motion design leader, not just an executor, contribute ideas proactively, strategise design planning, challenge assumptions, and propose better motion-led outcomes that align with product goals.

Deeply understand Prefrs customer demographics and contexts, planning animations that resonate with target audiences and cultural nuances to improve clarity, trust, and delight.

Craft motion as stories, using animation to improve UX, guide user attention, and enhance product features through clear, emotional storytelling.
Apply first-principles thinking to motion decisions: How should the user feel when seeing this animation? Will this animation drive action, clarity, or trust? and design accordingly to drive intentional user behaviours.
Design motion variants for A/B testing, understanding experimentation frameworks, capturing relevant metrics, analysing outcomes, and iterating to build data-informed learnings into future motion design.
Collaborate closely with designers, product managers, and engineers to ensure motion is integrated early in design discussions and executed with high performance across platforms.
Build and maintain a scalable animation system within Prefrs Design System. ensuring consistency, reusability, and alignment with brand personality. You will:
Craft motion that feels natural, purposeful, and aligned with user psychology.
Use animation to communicate information faster and more clearly than static visuals.

Understand storyboarding and storytelling to plan how users flow across screens and where motion can guide, inform, and delight.
Lead and own Prefrs end-to-end animation framework.
Design UI animations and transitions that enhance usability and reduce cognitive load.
Plan motion to drive user mindset and behaviours aligned with product goals.
Guide the team on best practices for motion accessibility (reduced motion settings, easing, timing). What were looking for
Strong understanding of animation principles and user psychology.

Proficiency in Illustrator, After Effects, Rive, Lottie, or similar motion tools.
Ability to prototype motion ideas quickly for team discussions and user testing.
Experience creating motion guidelines for design systems.
Understanding of storytelling and storyboarding for user flows.

A portfolio showcasing UI motion design, micro-interactions, and product-focused animations. Excellent collaboration skills, working seamlessly with designers and engineers.
Experience working on consumer mobile apps with large user bases.

Familiarity with Spline or 3D for lightweight product animations.

Preferred candidate profile

Min 3 Yrs exp as Motion designer

Proficiency in Illustrator, After Effects, Rive, Lottie, or similar motion tools.
