What you’ll do
Job Summary:

The Assistant General Manager (AGM) – Boiler Maintenance will be responsible for managing the maintenance, operation, and reliability of boiler systems in an 80 MW Captive Power Plant (CPP). This role involves ensuring the safe, efficient, and uninterrupted operation of boilers and associated auxiliary systems, minimizing downtime, and maximizing availability. The AGM will lead a team of engineers and technicians, coordinate major maintenance activities, and implement best practices in boiler maintenance and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

Oversee and manage all maintenance activities of the boiler system and auxiliary equipment in the 80 MW CPP.
Develop and execute preventive, predictive, and breakdown maintenance schedules to ensure high reliability and availability of boiler operations.
Monitor boiler performance parameters, analyze operational data, and implement corrective measures to optimize efficiency.
Ensure strict adherence to safety protocols, statutory regulations, and environmental norms related to boiler operation.
Lead the boiler maintenance team, providing technical guidance, training, and fostering a culture of safety and continuous improvement.
Coordinate planned shutdowns, overhauls, and inspections with minimal impact on plant availability.
Manage procurement, inventory control, and budgeting for spare parts and maintenance consumables.
Liaise with equipment manufacturers, contractors, and third-party service providers for specialized maintenance and troubleshooting.
Conduct root cause analysis of boiler failures and implement preventive measures to avoid recurrence.
Prepare detailed maintenance reports, downtime analysis, and cost control reports for senior management.
Implement reliability-centered maintenance (RCM) and predictive maintenance techniques to enhance boiler system uptime.
Drive initiatives to improve energy efficiency and reduce emissions from boiler operations.
Qualifications & Experience:

Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent; Master’s degree preferred.
Minimum 10-12 years of experience in boiler maintenance and operations, preferably in a power plant environment.
At least 3-5 years of experience in a managerial or supervisory role in boiler maintenance.
Strong technical knowledge of boilers, steam turbines, auxiliaries, water treatment, and related systems in power plants.
Thorough understanding of safety standards (e.g., ASME, OSHA), environmental regulations, and compliance requirements.
Experience with operation and maintenance of boilers in a thermal power plant or captive power plant (CPP) of 50 MW and above.
Proficient in root cause analysis, predictive maintenance, and reliability improvement methodologies.
Good leadership, communication, and team management skills.
Familiarity with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) and Microsoft Office tools.
Preferred Skills:

Certification in Boiler Operation or Safety Management.
Knowledge of latest technologies in boiler efficiency enhancement and emission control.
Experience in managing large shutdowns and capital projects related to boiler maintenance.
Ability to lead cross-functional teams and work in high-pressure environments.
