Job Title: Senior/Chief Manager Payroll
Location: Mumbai – Head Office

Role Overview
This person will be responsible for managing the end-to-end payroll function for PAN India operations at Zenplus and subsidiary companies covering a workforce of 11,000+ employees. This role requires expertise in payroll management, statutory compliance, employee taxation, and team leadership. The incumbent will ensure timely and accurate salary disbursement, adherence to regulatory requirements, and smooth payroll operations across all locations.
Key Responsibilities
Lead and manage the payroll department, ensuring accurate and timely processing of salaries for 11,000+ employees across PAN India.
Oversee the complete payroll cycle, including data validation, processing, reconciliation and disbursement.
Ensure compliance with all statutory requirements such as TDS, PF, ESI, PT, LWF, Bonus, Gratuity, Shops & Establishment Act, etc.
Handle payroll-related audits and coordinate with statutory auditors, internal auditors, and external stakeholders.
Manage and monitor monthly and annual payroll activities, including full & final settlements, arrears, increments, and variable pay.
Oversee payroll taxation including TDS deductions, investment declarations, Form 16, Form 24Q filing, and year-end tax reconciliations.
Implement and manage payroll software/tools for automation, accuracy, and efficiency.
Maintain strict confidentiality of payroll and employee information.
Provide payroll MIS and analytics to management for decision-making.
Liaise with Finance, HR, and statutory bodies for compliance and reporting requirements.
Drive continuous improvement in payroll processes and ensure adherence to company policies and regulatory changes.
Lead, mentor, and develop the payroll team for improved performance and efficiency.
Key Skills & Competencies
In-depth knowledge of Payroll, TDS, and Indian statutory compliances (PF, ESIC, PT, LWF, Shops & Establishment Act, etc.).
Experience in managing payroll for large employee strength across multiple states.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
Excellent leadership, team management, and interpersonal skills.
Ability to handle payroll audits and compliance inspections.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Qualifications & Experience
MBA in HR/ equivalent professional qualification preferred.
12 – 15 years of experience in payroll management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role handling 11,000+ employees.
Proven track record of managing payroll for a PAN India organization.
