What you’ll do
Job Role: UI Tester / UI QA Engineer

Job Location: Remote

Job Type: Contract

Job Summary:

We are seeking a detail-oriented and skilled UI Tester to join our Quality Assurance team. The UI Tester will be responsible for testing the user interface of our software applications to ensure they meet design specifications, are intuitive to use, and provide a seamless user experience across platforms. You will work closely with developers, designers, and product managers to identify and resolve UI defects, ensuring high-quality deliverables that align with business requirements and industry standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Test UI Functionality: Execute manual and automated tests to verify that the user interface functions as intended across web, mobile, and/or desktop applications.
Validate Design Specifications: Ensure UI elements (e.g., buttons, menus, forms, layouts) adhere to design mockups, wireframes, and style guides.
Cross-Browser/Device Testing: Test applications on various browsers (e.g., Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) and devices (e.g., iOS, Android, tablets, desktops) to ensure compatibility and responsiveness.
Identify and Report Bugs: Log defects in bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Bugzilla) with clear descriptions, steps to reproduce, and screenshots/videos.
Usability Testing: Evaluate the user interface for ease of use, accessibility (e.g., WCAG compliance), and overall user experience.
Automation (if applicable): Develop and maintain automated UI test scripts using tools like Selenium, Cypress, Appium, or TestComplete.
Collaborate with Teams: Work with UX/UI designers, developers, and product managers to clarify requirements and provide feedback on design and functionality.
Regression Testing: Perform regression testing to ensure new updates or features do not negatively impact existing UI functionality.
Documentation: Create and maintain test cases, test plans, and reports to document testing processes and outcomes.
Stay Updated: Keep up with the latest UI testing tools, methodologies, and industry trends to improve testing efficiency and effectiveness.
Technical Skills:

Bachelors degree in computer science, Information Technology, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
5+ years of experience in UI testing, quality assurance, or a related role
Proficiency in manual testing and familiarity with UI testing tools (e.g., Selenium, Cypress, Appium, Postman for API-related UI testing).
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, JavaScript, or other front-end technologies to understand UI behavior.
Experience with bug-tracking tools (e.g., Jira, Trello, Bugzilla).
Familiarity with test management tools (e.g., TestRail, Zephyr).
Understanding cross-browser and cross-device testing methodologies.
Preferred (Optional):

Experience with automated testing frameworks.
Knowledge of accessibility testing (e.g., WCAG, ARIA).
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum methodologies.
Certifications like ISTQB Foundation Level or similar.
Nice-to-Have:

Experience with performance testing tools (e.g., JMeter, LoadRunner) for UI-related performance.
Familiarity with cloud-based testing platforms (e.g., BrowserStack, Sauce Labs).
Basic understanding of UX design principles.
