Job Summary
We are looking for a highly experienced SCADA Engineer to lead the Basic and Detailed Engineering, Commissioning, and O&M Support for SCADA systems in utility-scale solar and wind power projects. The role requires technical leadership in SCADA architecture, signal engineering, communication systems, and SLDC telemetry implementation.
Key Responsibilities
A. SCADA System Design & Engineering
Prepare SCADA system design, technical specifications, and Bill of Quantities (BoQ).
Lead preparation of Detailed Engineering Documents: Signal Lists, SCADA HMI Screens, Alarm/Events Lists, SCADA database formats, IP addressing, wiring diagrams, and report formats.
Evaluate vendor bids, finalize contracts, and coordinate engineering deliverables.
Ensure compliance of Power Plant Controller (PPC) with grid code requirements in collaboration with the Grid Compliance team.
Lead technical discussions with SCADA vendors and cross-functional engineering teams.
Develop as-built documentation, test procedures, commissioning manuals, and operator training materials.
Design SCADA architecture for solar & wind plants, including integration with inverters, relays, weather monitoring systems, meters, and other field devices.
B. Commissioning Support
Provide on-site and remote technical support during commissioning of SCADA systems.
Assist execution teams in SCADA troubleshooting and fine-tuning during project handover.
Coordinate with vendors for installation, configuration, and testing.
C. Operations & Maintenance (O&M) Support
Provide post-commissioning support to O&M teams for SCADA system operations and issue resolution.
D. SLDC Telemetry Integration
Design architecture and prepare Tag Point Lists, SLDs, and communication letters for SLDC integration.
Ensure data telemetry system implementation as per state/central SLDC requirements.
Support execution and commissioning of telemetry systems.
E. Internet and Leased Line Connectivity
Define scope, prepare technical specifications, and evaluate bids for connectivity infrastructure.
Coordinate with vendors and site teams for timely execution and troubleshooting.
Preferred Candidate Profile
Bachelor’s degree in Electronics or Instrumentation Engineering (B.E./B.Tech).
8 to 18 years of experience in SCADA system design, integration, and commissioning within the renewable or power sector.
Strong knowledge of Solar PV systems, networking, IP configuration, and industrial communication protocols such as MODBUS, IEC 60870-5-104, TCP/IP.
Hands-on experience with HMI/SCADA software, data logging, and remote access systems.
Experience in SLDC telemetry systems and SCADA-grid controller integration is preferred.
Strong analytical, coordination, and documentation skills.
Willingness to travel to project sites as required.
