What you’ll do
Purpose – Why does this role exist?
The Manager Power Scheduling is responsible for leading the scheduling and dispatch operations of the thermal power plant, ensuring optimal generation planning in coordination with Load Dispatch Centers (SLDC/RLDC), regulatory bodies, and commercial teams. The role ensures compliance with grid codes, maximizes revenue through efficient scheduling, and supports strategic decisions related to power trading and deviation management. The incumbent will oversee a team responsible for real-time scheduling, forecasting, and regulatory reporting.

Key Result Areas (Key Performance Indicators)

Generation Scheduling Strategy
Develop and implement day-ahead and real-time generation schedules aligned with grid demand, fuel availability, and commercial obligations.

SLDC/RLDC Coordination
Lead interactions with Load Dispatch Centers for schedule submission, revision approvals, and grid compliance.

Forecasting & Availability Planning
Oversee unit-wise availability forecasting and ensure readiness for dispatch based on technical and operational constraints.

Regulatory Compliance & DSM Management
Ensure adherence to CERC/SERC regulations, grid codes, and manage deviation settlement mechanisms to minimize penalties.

MIS & Regulatory Reporting
Review and validate scheduling data, deviation reports, and ensure timely submission of regulatory filings and audit documentation.

Commercial Interface
Collaborate with commercial and trading teams for bilateral schedules, open access transactions, and optimization of power sale agreements.

System Integration & Automation
Drive integration of SCADA/EMS systems with scheduling platforms and promote automation in data acquisition and reporting.

Educational Background and Work Experience

Educational Background:
Bachelors degree in Electrical Engineering or Power Systems; Masters in Power Management or MBA (Energy) preferred
Work Experience:
Minimum 10 to 15 years of experience in power scheduling, grid operations, or dispatch management in large-scale thermal power projects

Skills Required

Expertise in power scheduling protocols and grid operations
In-depth knowledge of DSM regulations and grid code compliance
Proficiency in SCADA, EMS, and scheduling platforms (e.g., WebSR, e-Scheduling)
Strong leadership and decision-making skills
Excellent stakeholder management and communication abilities
Understanding of commercial aspects of power trading and open access
